Environmentally conscious lending

Lenders have recently introduced new products offering more favourable terms for environmentally friendly homes.

Last week we saw the release of a new Green buy to let mortgage by The Mortgage Works, the buy to let lending arm of Nationwide. Their product enables buy to let investors to borrow up to 80% of the property value on homes with an A-C Energy efficiency rating.

This is one of a number of moves we have seen by lenders to help reward borrowers of homes meeting higher energy efficiency standards and quite rightly I expect this to be a trend that continues.
